New carrier paperwork checklist

Filings many new interstate carriers need—and how I submit them on your behalf.

Answer first: Most new interstate for-hire carriers need a stack of filings—entity formation, USDOT, MC authority, BOC-3, insurance filings, UCR, and often IRP, IFTA, and state permits. I personally prepare and submit the pieces you hire me for, on your behalf.

Common filing buckets

  • Company formation (LLC / corporation)
  • USDOT number registration
  • MC operating authority
  • BOC-3 process-agent designation
  • UCR annual registration
  • IRP plates / IFTA fuel tax / state permits as applicable

Not every carrier needs every item. Exact requirements depend on how and where you operate. This article is general information, not legal advice.
